January 25 2005, Report of the International Commission of Inquiry on Darfur to the United Nations Secretary-General

March 31 2005, the United Nations Security Council adopts Resolution 1593 (2005), referring the conflict in Darfur to the International Criminal Court.  The resolution requires Sudan and other parties to the conflict in Darfur to co-operate with the Court.  It also invites the Court and the African Union to discuss practical arrangements that will facilitate its work, including the possibility of conducting proceedings in the region.

April 5, 2005, the Prosecutor receives the List of Suspects prepared by the Commission of Inquiry.

June 1 2005, the Prosecutor of the ICC announces the opening of an investigation in Darfur. 

June 29 2005, the Prosecutor provides the first report to the Security Council on the preparations of the ICC for investigating the crimes committed in Darfur. 

December 13, 2005, the Prosecutor provides the second report to the Security Council on Darfur
