Re: FAIR Representation! on the ICC

Excellency,

We understand that six women have been elected after the first round of balloting for the ICC today. We are very pleased to note that the minimum voting requirement was met and that six highly qualified women will sit as
judges of the ICC.

Indeed, we view this as a historic development but must urge you to continue along these lines. We must insist States Parties not treat this as the maximum number of women but as a true minimum - especially in light of the
fact that there are still highly qualified women candidates remaining.

You have an opportunity to make a real difference here and continue the historic level of gender mainstreaming begun in the Rome Statute and its supplemental texts. Now the challenge is to put the words so far on paper
into action.

Sincerely,
