We are very pleased to note that the minimum voting requirement was met and that six highly qualified women will sit as judges of the ICC. Indeed, we view this as a historic development but must urge you to continue along these lines. We must insist States Parties not treat this as the maximum number of women but as a true minimum - especially in light of the fact that there are still highly qualified women candidates remaining. You have an opportunity to make a real difference here and continue the historic level of gender mainstreaming begun in the Rome Statute and its supplemental texts.
