Celebrating Bertha von Suttner and 100 years of the Peace Palace

On 27 August 2013, Brigid Inder, Executive Director of the Women’s Initiatives for Gender Justice, spoke at a special event celebrating 100 years of the Peace Palace and honouring the work of Bertha von Suttner, the first woman to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1905.

Other speakers at the event, held in Delft, the Netherlands, included 2011 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Leymah Gbowee and U.S. Ambassador for Global Criminal Justice, Stephen J. Rapp.

The event was organised by the Department of Philosophy and Religion at Central Michigan University, The College of Humanities and Social & Behavioral Sciences of Central Michigan University, and The Planethood Foundation.
