Internship & Volunteer Program

The WOMEN'S CAUCUS FOR GENDER JUSTICE is a network of individuals and groups committed to strengthening advocacy on women's human rights and helping to develop greater capacity among women in the use of International Criminal Court, the Optional Protocol to CEDAW and other mechanisms that provide women avenues of and access to different systems of justice.

Projects during the year 2002-2003 will include:
  • Monitoring and advocacy at the ICC Assembly of States Parties;
  • Monitoring the establishment of the International Criminal Court;
  • Monitoring the nomination and election of judges for the ICC and other officials, including evaluation of candidates' backgrounds and credentials;
  • Trainings and workshops on Gender and International Justice;
  • Advocating for the full implementation of Security Council Resolution 1325 relating to Women, Peace and Security;
INTERNSHIPS

Internships at the Caucus will give individuals interested in international relations, law and women’s issues the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge in international human rights law, international advocacy and the international women’s movement in a small and fun work environment.

Transportation stipend is provided and college credit for the internship can be arranged with participating colleges. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and should be sent to caucus@iccwomen.org ATTN: internships or you can fax it to 718-626-3528.

For the Fall Semester 2002,  we seek:

Legal Research Intern: Law students are expected to have strong legal research and writing skills and a demonstrated interest in gender/women's issues. 

Office Intern: Will assist with day to day functioning of the office and work with the Administrative and Program Coordinator. Duties will include but are not limited to:  

-Handling Phones & some correspondence
-File and database management
-Assist with preparations for UN negotiations, public events, trainings and outreach efforts
-Internet research

She/He will work side-by-side full-time staff and take on a range of project and leadership responsibilities as well as some administration. The positions are part-time, volunteer and require a minimum commitment of 16 hours (2 full days) per week. Applicants must be proficient in English, although French, Spanish are also helpful. Interest in social justice and women’s rights are helpful but not required.

 

 

 

VOLUNTEERS

The Women's Caucus seeks volunteers willing to assist with the translation of outreach materials, fact sheets and correspondence into French, Spanish and Arabic. Often the translations can be done by remote and require limited office-time.
