Open Letter to All Permanent Representatives to the United Nations
of Member States of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court

The Requirement is a Minimum; Not a Maximum!

Excellencies,

The first round of balloting has concluded and has produced encouraging results in terms of the numbers of successful candidates. We applaud States Parties for following the voting procedures and the minimum voting requirements in good faith and for electing, for the first time ever, six women to serve as judges on an international judicial tribunal.

You have an opportunity to make a real difference in these moments and continue the historic level of gender mainstreaming. At this juncture, we now remind you that there are still highly qualified female candidates remaining. We summarize each of their profiles for your ready reference. (Attached) We urge you to consider these candidates to ensure gender parity on the ICC.
